LG has unveiled its latest flagship smartphone, the G6, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, 27 February - 2 March 2017. It is sleek, solid, and surprisingly sensible.
Display. The LG G6 has an 18:9 screen aspect ratio with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,440. The display also supports Dolby Vision and HDR 10 - both of which are standards for High Dynamic Range (HDR) - meaning both the darkest and the brightest areas of the picture are more vivid, revealing greater detail.
Camera. The LG G6 has two cameras on the back. It has dual 13MP rear cameras, one of which has a 125-degree wide-angle lens, allowing users to switch between standard and wide-angle settings and capture panoramic shots. The G6 also comes with an expanded 100-degree field of view with its 5MP front camera, which means users can take wide-angle selfies without the need for a selfie stick. And 4K video recording is supported.
Specs. The LG G6 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB of memory and a choice of 32GB or 64GB of internal memory, which is expandable up to 2TB with a MicroSD card. It has a non-removable 3,300mAh battery.
Software. The G6 ships with the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, Android 7.0 Nougat. It also comes with Google's artificially intelligent virtual helper, Google Assistant, built in - allowing users to manage everyday tasks, control their music and videos and search the G6 using voice commands.
Waterproof. The G6 is water and dust resistant, with a rating of IP68, meaning it can be immersed in up to 1.5 meters of water for as long as 30 minutes.
